Our Lesson Horses

At Cunningham's Riding Academy we are very proud of our lesson horse string. Our horses are all older horses who have been used in a variety of ways, ensuring that our horses are highly trained and safe. All our horses have kind and gentle temperments and are ridden regularly by the instructor, to help keep them well trained. Also our horses are not overworked, to help prevent them from being sour on their jobs. You can tell our horses like their job, by the bond they build with their riders. In addition, most of our horses are registered with the Arabian Horse Association, as either purebred Arabian or Half Arabian. Arabian Horses are known for:

  • People -oriented personalities
  • Intelliegence
  • Bravery (they were the original war horse)
  • Exceptional endurance and hardiness
Junior Our premier lesson horse is CJA Moonshot AKA, Junior. He is a 20 yr. old purebred Arabian Gelding. Junior has been everywhere and done everthing. Nicolle Cunningham has owned Junior for 11 years and has taken him through a McDonald's Drive- Thru and swimming at a local reseviour. Junior loves to eat oranges and is a very smooth ride, we use him with all levels of riders. However, he is especially good with beginners.
Duchess Duchess is a 21 yr. old Half-Arabian mare. She was once a show horse as well, but know she enjoys babysitting. Due to her smaller size Duchess can only be ridden by children and smaller adults. Duchess is a real love bug who is used with all level of students.
Denver with Madeline Denver is an 18 yr. old Quarter Horse cross. Sadly, this sweet horse was once abused, but was rescued and rehabed by some friends of Cunningham's Riding Academy. He now resides with us where he is well-loved and cared for. Denver loves kids and has bouncy trot, he is used with our intermediate to advanced riders.
